YCB in Transition

A message from the Board Chair

Dear Friends:

Please join me in thanking Judith Kahn, who left her position as Executive Director of the YCB on June 6, 2008, for her strong leadership and service to children and youth.  Judith will remain with the YCB for a short time to complete an important project she spearheaded, the Children’s Report Card, which will better track the well-being of Minneapolis children and youth.

On behalf of the Executive Committee of the Youth Coordinating Board, I am pleased to announce our Transitional Leadership Team of Suzann Eisenberg Murray (Transition Director), Carol Miller (Deputy Transition Director of Early Childhood), and Transition Team members Dick Mammen and Eleanor Coleman.

Suzann, a founding partner of the Dendros Group, has consulted with organizations and their leaders for decades, and is recognized for her experience in transitional leadership. Most recently, she guided the YCB through a strategic planning process, giving her intimate knowledge of the YCB's mission, goals, and projects.  Carol Miller is a long-time manager for Hennepin County and expert on early childhood issues; she previously served the YCB as Deputy Director for Early Childhood from 2001-06.  Dick Mammen, who serves as Director of Community Recreation for the Minneapolis Park and Rec Board, is known to many for his decades of leadership on youth issues, including with YCB and Yo! The Movement, among many other organizations. Eleanor Coleman, Chief of Student Support, Family & Community Engagement for Minneapolis Public Schools, will round out the team and maintain the strong partnership with our schools needed on many YCB projects.

Suzann, Carol, Dick and Eleanor will ensure that the YCB maintains momentum and remains focused on its current projects, including the Youth Congress, the Youth are Here Bus, 500 under 5, and other initiatives, as we search for a new Executive Director.  If you have questions or desire more information please go to www.ycb.orgfor regular transition updates.  To speak with a Transition Team member please call the YCB at (612) 673-2060 or e-mail Suzann Eisenberg Murray at suzann@dendros.com.

This is an exciting time for the YCB, as we are sharpening our focus on political leadership at a critical time for children and youth.  Thank you for your attention to the work of the YCB.
