Minneapolis
Father Project
The Minneapolis FATHER Project works to eliminate
barriers for young fathers and assists them in building relationships
with their children. In partnership with the Child Support Enforcement
Division, Minnesota Department of Human Service, the FATHER
Project was one of 10 sites to receive the Federal Office of
Child Support Enforcement waiver that allows national demonstration
projects to access federal matching funds.
The demonstration period of the project ended successfully on
December 31, 2003 through the supportive involvement of the
major collaborating partners: the Minneapolis Youth Coordinating
Board, the City of Minneapolis Employment and Training Program,
the Neighborhood Employment Network, Hennepin County Child Support
Division, and the Minnesota Child Support Division. These partners
remain involved through the post-demonstration transition. The
FATHER Project continues to offer the same critical services
to fathers, spinning off from the YCB and expanding its partnership
with Goodwill/Easter Seals of Minnesota www.goodwilleasterseals.org
in 2004.
