Mike Freeman has served as the Hennepin County Attorney since January 2007. He was also county attorney from 1991 to 1999. Freeman was a partner in the Lindquist & Vennum law firm from February, 1999 to January, 2007, and also a partner at Popham, Haik, Schnobrich & Kaufman, Ltd. 1979 -1991. He has also taught classes in government, politics, and public affairs at Augsburg, Winona State University, and the Hubert Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota.

Freeman served in the Minnesota Senate for two terms in the 1980s. Freeman has a Bachelor of Arts in History from Rutgers, a Juris Doctor from the University of Minnesota Law School, and is a graduate of the executive leadership program in state and local government at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard.
