Mikayla Ferg graduated from Macalester College (‘18) with a Bachelor of Arts in Educational Studies and Political Science. In her studies, she focused on education policy and reform.
Ferg began her involvement in youth work as a first- and second-grade math and reading tutor at an elementary school in her hometown of Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. Since moving to the Twin Cities, she has continued her work with youth at the Mid-Continent Oceanographic Institute as an after school tutor, the Southwest Community Education Summer Program as a lead teacher, and Jean Lyle Children’s Center as a kindergarten classroom assistant. She recently worked as a Youth Development Intern at the Minnesota Children’s Museum and a Programming and Operations Volunteer at Sisterhood Boutique, a youth social enterprise in Minneapolis.
Ferg is passionate about infusing youth voice and leadership into policies and practices that impact young people. She believes that collaboration and authentic engagement are vital to driving change within and beyond Minneapolis.
