Minneapolis Afterschool Network

The Minneapolis Afterschool Network is broken down into four areas including coordination & collaboration, data, quality, and our program finder What's Up 612!, dedicated to providing youth ages 5-21 with best possible out-of-school time programming and activities the City has to offer.

Coordination & Collaboration of jurisdictional and community partners to strengthen and expand the field of out-of-school time.

Together we create a common vision and shared goals across afterschool program providers, schools, city and county, families and youth, and funding organizations in order to:

  • Facilitate coordination and collaboration
  • Support diverse, quality afterschool programming
  • Guide local and state level afterschool level  policy to increase and stabilize funding for the field

Information Collection & Sharing of Data – Minneapolis Afterschool Network Database collects and stores citywide demographic data on participation and access to afterschool opportunities in the city. 

The Minneapolis Afterschool Network utilizes a citywide management information system for sharing data in order to:

  • Identify where children and youth lack access to programs 
  • Address and shrink the opportunity gap
  • Link afterschool participation with academic outcomes and social emotional learning 
  • Provide real-time data for better decision making 
  • Evaluate overall impact of afterschool programming
  • Tell the story!

Quality Improvement - Professional Development Opportunities, Quality Assessment Support, Organizational Coaching.

Continuous quality improvement leads to positive outcomes outcomes for youth, families and communities.

  • Collectively define quality
  • Identify and recommend quality assessment tools
  • Enhance the capacity of afterschool programs to improve outcomes for youth
  • Provide professional development training opportunities, annual convening and support to afterschool program providers

Regional Quality Collaboration Project - Community Sharing

On June 10, 2016 the Minneapolis Afterschool Network held its Regional Quality Collaboration Project Community Sharing. The convening recognized and celebrated the awesome work of the Assessor Coaches over a year long process, and the impact made on quality afterschool, racial equity and capacity building across the metro area.
