Minneapolis PARTNERS Conference

2019 PARTNERS Conference Flier

Join the Minneapolis Youth Coordinating Board, the City of Minneapolis and Minneapolis College for the annual PARTNERS with Youth Conference February 15, 2019 from 9am-2:30pm at Minneapolis College (previously MCTC). 



  • Audience: Youth Work Professionals and Youth (it's a school release day for Minneapolis Public Schools students)
  • Date & Time: Friday, February 15th, 2019 from 9am-2:30pm
  • Location: Minneapolis College (Registration takes place at Kopp Hall)
  • RSVP: This conference is FREE to attend; however registration is required. 
  • Meals: Morning coffee and boxed lunches provided
  • Continuing Education: Certificates of Attendance will be available at the end of the day at the Registration table in Kopp Hall. 3.25 CEUs approved by the MN Board of Social Work.

Keynote Speaker: Jess Pierce

Jess Pierce, Keynote Speaker

An innovator in many ways, Jess Pierce has dedicated her career to being an advocate on behalf of youth. Twenty years of being a professional musician, she approaches youth work with a very unique lens. Jess Pierce is an expert in case management and advocacy with a particular focus on homelessness. She leads with the belief that it is important for young people to feel heard and empowered. Jess is the Youth Housing Program Manager with Simpson Housing and the Founder of Focused Village, a non profit that provides transitional housing for female identified parents ages 18–22, and their children, who are experiencing homelessness.

  2. 9:30-35: Welcome from John Ford, Minneapolis College
  3. 9:35-10:15am: Mayor Frey & Keynote Jess Pierce
  4. 10:15-10:30: Transition
  5. 10:30-11:20: Session A Workshops
  6. 11:30-12:15: Lunch & Resource Fair
  7. 12:15-12:30: Transition
  8. 12:30-1:20: Session B Workshops
  9. 1:20-1:30: Transition
  10. 1:30-2:20: Session C Workshops
  11. 2:20-2:30: Drop off Evaluations & Pick up Attendance Certificates, if needed

All workshops will occur in the Whitney Building (Library/"L" Building) and Kopp Hall ("K" Building). The keynote address and lunch will occur in the gym of Bowman ("B" Building). All of these buildings are wheelchair accessible. All-gender  and accessible bathrooms are available.


This year's conference will focus on holistic and inclusive approaches to youth work. Workshop themes include:

  1. Advocacy & Systems-Level Youth Work
  2. Healthy Youth and Healthy Youth Workers
  3. Inclusive Youth Work
  4. Youth Work Foundations
